Oral Cancer Screening... If you are a tobacco user, you are in primary danger of oral cancer. Thousands of deaths are attributed to oral cancer, and we feel that our duty is to prevent this disease from occurring. We provide oral cancer screenings during all preventative care appointments.
Occlusal Examination... The forces of your bite can sometimes affect the positioning of the jaw and teeth.Minor adjustments of the enamel surfaces or fillings of the teeth can help redistribute and redirect the biting forces.
Periodontal Examination... Using gentle probing. Dr. Briskin examines your pocket depth between each tooth. Pocket depth is the length between the top of the gum and where the gum attaches to the tooth--if your pocket depth is too deep, you may be the victim of periodontal disease.
Temporo-Mandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) Examination... TMJ is a condition that affects thousands of people. Frequent indicators of TMJ include popping and clicking of the jaw, limited jaw function, pain in the neck, shoulders, and upper back, and pain and pressure in the face and ears. We provide conservative therapies that can eradicate this painful, frustrating problem.
Caries Examination... This examination is performed to find teeth that have decay and are in need of restoration or incipient lesions that can be monitored and treated with fluoride.
Digital Radiography... When indicated, computer generated X-rays are used. Digital X-rays reduce the radiation exposure to the patient and give improved diagnostic ability.
Pre-clinical Discussion... We will discuss any issues you have had with past dental treatment and try to clearly understand your concerns, values, and goals for any treatment that is indicated.
